Sunday 22nd June saw me off to a studio day at WindmillArt to shoot with Helen Stephens. I’ve looked at Helen’s portfolio on PurplePort quite a few times and I’ve been an admirer of her work for a while, but she lives in Southampton, miles away from my base in Cambridgeshire. When I heard that she was going to be working at the studio in Linton I grabbed my chance to book a two hour slot with her.
It was whilst working with her that I found I have a guilty secret, so secret that even I didn’t know about it until I started editing the shots from the day. I have to put my hand up and confess that I seem to have a liking for shooting headshots of redheads. There. I’ve said it now, that’s another dark secret of mine revealed to anyone who reads this blog.
Helen is normally an art nude model, a genre that I love to shoot so I took the opportunity to get some outdoor shots, but we also did some semi clothed work and it was whilst we were doing that I got in close and did some shallow depth of field stuff. The image in this post is one example and I love it.
I’ll be posting a gallery of our time together later on during the week and I’ll add a link to the top of this blog. I’ve got a few shots that I can’t wait to post!
If you want to view Helen’s port folio on PurplePort click here. Please be warned that it does contain nudity, so all of the normal warnings about age and sensitivity to nakedness apply.
